Online is a great place to pretend you are something you are not. You could say your a 21 year old girl from Texas with blonde hair and blue eyes and what you really are is a fat short stubby 40 year old bald man. When it comes to online dating these are just a few things you need to watch out for and be careful with. Sure it's okay if your on the internet and want your facebook relationship status to say your single to just your friends, but when it comes to online dating and you connect with someone and potentially have to meet this person in real life that's when it become a huge problem. When creating an online profile most users will fib a little and make themselves seem much more awesome than they really are in real life. Maybe just make your yearly salary a few hundreds of thousands more. What could be the harm? It's hard for a user to tell what's a lie and what's the truth. What are you going to believe? We gathered some online statistics and facts that show truths, the lies people tell in online dating, what to watch out for and some fun information.
We found that most guys lie about their height. We conducted a poll online which asked the question "do taller guys get more girls?" A bunch of girls answered to this poll and we found out that most girls find taller guys more attractive. So when you see a guy online that says he is 6 feet tall, males will lie 2 feet taller. So just subtract 2 feet from what the guy says he is in his online profile and you'll find out the real truth then. Another interesting statistic is that it's opposite for woman. Men seem to find shorter woman more attractive. So for men just add 2 feet taller to figure out the truth of what the girl says she is online.
We found most guys and girls will lie about their yearly income. Most people will say they make 21% more than they really do in real life. Apparently every person who is single and online is making over $100k a year. Ya right. We did an online poll and asked the question "Do you find males or females more attractive if their yearly income is over $100k?" can you guess what the outcome was? YES they do! if your under 21 and not making that much money it's okay to users but if your over 21 and not making that much money you might as well dig a hole in the dirt and live there forever because your never getting a date.
This one is a visual lie. A lie to your eyes, yup you guessed it the dreaded profile picture and probably one of the biggest lies online. Statistics show that the more good looking the picture is means the more out of date it is and not really a true profile picture of the dater. Not only do you get out of date pictures but also pictures that are taken from sneaky angles to make the person look better. For instance taking a picture at a high angle makes a person look skinnier than they really are. And taking a picture below would make the person look fatter. Of course people are more inclined to stick with photo's that make them look the best no one wants to be called a troll.
Everyone lies about their age not only online but in real life too. No one wants to be considered an old hag and when your single and trying to find a connection with someone or just anyone who will date you sometimes lying about your age seems like a real good idea until they find your drivers license one day than you just look like an idiot for being a liar liar pants on fire. We did another poll and nearly one 3rd of men lied about their age on dating profiles compared to 16% of woman. Some lied up to a ten year difference where others only lied 1 or 2 years younger or older. So we just learned something we already knew men lie more. Just kidding... kind of.
So there you have it the four most biggest lies in online dating that all users when chatting with someone on the internet have to watch out for. Our advice is maybe actually get to know the person first and chat with them online for a LONG time before you decide to go out and meet this person in real life. Here is how it should go: 1. see users profile 2. chat online with user 3. chat using a webcam (so you can see how the person looks like) 4. chat on the phone (so you can see what the person sounds like) 5. meet up in real life in a high public area (no secret meetings, are you trying to get yourself kidnapped here?) Of course you only follow these steps if you keep finding that you are having a real connection with this person. So be safe online and most importantly have fun! And hey STOP LYING!
